I like care.com. Sure it’s a little annoying that some parents just aren’t up to date with current competitive rates, but sometimes they just can’t afford more. And, who am I to say they can’t join a website just because they can’t compete?

Care.com always has a multitude of opportunities. However most don’t pay competitively. That said, I’ve only taken 2 jobs on this site in my entire nannying career.

I did find that the help email correspondence is very quick. I recently requested a template service to cut down the amount of retyping the same messages only to curtail it slightly to fit each family’s specific needs. I was told it was a “Great idea” and would be submitted to a committee for improvements. I appreciated that.

I personally love care.com. I found my current, full time job via the website. I feel it is better for those in larger areas to find employment. I’ve been a nanny for over 7 years, so I don’t feel I need the help of an agency. Like most sites, you do get those parents who want to get cheap care, but you can find families that do pay very well if you have the experience and references to back it up. I do feel you get easy going families to work with.

My only annoyance with it is that youstill have to get emails, even when you are not looking for a job, and can’t change the settings for it.

While the site is maine parent focused, it does have many safety measures to protect the families and families.

  3. I used care to find babysitting jobs and my current full time job. I feel that alot of the jobs are wanting to pay less than minimum wage. I thin that the pay caculator shows very low rates.

  4. I have used Care.com to find part-time babysitting jobs. I will say that I am surprised at the sheer number of families who never even respond to my application. I understand they probably get a lot of responses, but it really leaves a sour taste in my mouth to respond to ten jobs and only hear back from one. If nannies did that, we would be getting a bad rap for sure.
One thing I do like is the ability to sort by date posted, so I know if a family has just posted the job today they are probably still looking, as opposed to if the ad is a week old… I am sure they’ve probably found someone and I don’t even bother to apply.
